I received word today that a Slate-coloured Junco banded at TTPBRS on November 10, 2006 was recaptured in Brighton, Ontario on January 28, 2007. This bird was one of the last banded in 2006, a member of a significant flock that come through on our final day of fall monitoring. The bird had apparently been hanging around a backyard feeder in Brighton since December. This is certainly an interesting record, the first foreign encounter of a "TTPBRS" junco, and an unusual example of movement during a single winter period (click image to zoom).
We still haven't had a chance to visit the station this winter but hope to very soon. The start of spring migration monitoring at TTPBRS is now less than 2 months away, and there is much preparation to do in the meantime.
