TTPBRS will officially open for 2007 on April 1. We are looking forward to our 5th year of fieldwork at Tommy Thompson Park!
The first year of our annual Baillie Birdathon fundraiser was a big success in 2006, raising over $12,000 for bird conservation. We are looking to build on this success in 2007 and hope to make the TTPBRS Birdathon a platform for both education and fundraising. We are delighted to announce that gardening expert Mark Cullen, radio and television personality and best selling author, will be our celebrity Birdathoner this year! More details on the Baillie Birdathon will be released in the coming weeks.
The spring issue of the TTPBRS Newsletter is currently in preparation and will be distributed in late March. This issue is full of news, reports and articles including submissions by Julia Marko and Seabrooke Leckie.
In 2007 we will be launching a membership program for TTPBRS. This membership program will be a unique and interactive program, connecting members with birds and conservation in the Greater Toronto Area! Details will be released in the upcoming newsletter.
In early 2007, a committee was established to provide support and steering in the development and management of TTPBRS. I would like to formally introduce Seabrooke Leckie, Ian Sturdee, Julia Marko, Don Johnston and Norma Vanderzon as TTPBRS Committee members!
Tommy Thompson Park Bird Research Station is an initiative of Toronto and Region Conservation and the Conservation Foundation of Greater Toronto. We value your support and look forward to working with you again in 2007!
