Wednesday April 13-2005

After a busy weekend, migration has really cooled off at TTPBRS. Today we banded 12 birds and recaptured 10 more. The dominant species continues to be Golden-crowned Kinglet followed by Brown Creeper. I was surprised to note that only 27 Golden-crowned Kinglets were banded for the entire season last year. This spring we have banded around 300 and they are still going strong!
We still have yet to see any big pushes of sparrows, flickers and Myrtle Warblers. The first Barn Swallow of the season was detected on point count III flying along the embayment.
